Mets sign José Quintana to two-year, $26 million contract, per report

Mets make another free agency splash at the Winter Meetings with lefty José Quintana. This deal adds a sure fire 3/4 into the rotation behind JV and Scherzer.

Quintana had a bounce back 2022 campaign. The Mets desperately needed a lefty in the rotation and this singing addressed that.

Quintana Vs. Walker

Walker signed to a 4 year deal worth 72 million

Quintana signed to a 2 year deal worth 26 million

Ignoring the W/L, which isn’t a reflection of his performance just the team he was on as a whole. It’s obvious he performed just as good probably better.

Plus the mets saved money on his contract.

Personal Opinion

I think the Mets made a major move in signing Quintana. He was able to pitch very well in 2022 as well as having a great performance against the Phillies in the playoffs. He adds a left into the rotation which is a must. Quintana is a great fit in New York and I believe it was a great signing.

Everything is lining up for the Mets to have a stellar offseason.
