Steve Cohen and Billy Eppler have made comments about wanting another offense piece and we are gonna die into who that might be and how this mets lineup will shape up heading into the new season.
The Mets made a major splash in free agency spending the most money in baseball and completely revamping the pitching rotation. With the addition of Senga, Verlander, and Quintana, the Mets roll out a brand new 2-3-4 in the rotation. But Mets fans are wondering what is next.
Mets Next Move?
After a wild Tuesday night on twitter with rumors swirling of a possible acquisition of Carlos Correa, Mets fans were gently let down to know he signed with the San Fransisco Giants for 13 years 350 million dollar. The Mets were not going to meet that and from what I’ve been hearing from fellow Mets fans, they are happy the Mets didn’t meet the offer.
So that begs the question… Whats next for this Mets offense
Here’s a look at how the lineup might end up looking opening day
The big empty space you see in the DH Spot is where I believe the Mets will look to add some offense. Last year, just like in this lineup card, the DH spot felt empty. The Two big names that have been circulating are. J.D. Martinez and Michael Conforto.
By clicking his name you can see his splits in his MLB career. He is going to be your everyday DH with not much use in the field. He offers a big bat and still manages to hit for a solid average.
The past Met on the other hand also can provide this but is a giant question mark after his stint not playing baseball. Conforto’s biggest perk is he will add a much needed 4th outfielder to this lineup.
Some have even speculated a combination of Profar and Martinez coming to New York if they are able to clear some money by the likes of McCann and Carrasco. This would give you the better DH in Martinez over Conforto and still manage to add a 4th outfielder.
Overall The Mets aren’t even close to done so stay tuned for updates.
